Synopsis
A group of 6 children separated from one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma dies in an accident. 10 years since the incident, the chairman of the group, Jinta Yadomi become a hikikomori. One day in the summer, Menma with a more mature appearance, appeared before Jinta, and asked him to grant his request so that he could go into the afterlife. Because Menma can not recall petition, Jinta gathers his old friends because they believed that Jinta solution.
Character
Jinta "Jintan" Yadomi (宿 海 仁 太 Yadomi Jinta?)

Jinta is a childhood friend of Naruko, Atsumu, Chiriko, Tetsudo and Meiko. Jinta is chairman of the group they named the Super Peace Busters. Jinta is a vibrant and friendly child before the death of Meiko and his mother. After the death of Meiko, the Super Peace Busters group split up and Jinta eventually became a hikikomori, refusing to go to school and stay at home. He liked Meiko as a child, but he refuses to admit it. He believes that the Meiko that appears in front of him is not a ghost, but a manifestation of the stress during this time. She was hesitant to grant the petition Meiko, for fear of his loss again. However, Meiko was the one who encouraged him to go outside and reconnect with members of the Super Peace Busters.
Meiko "Menma" Honma (本 间 芽 衣 子 Meiko Honma?)

Meiko died in an accident as a child, but she appears before Jinta on a summer day. Although he realized that he had died, she still likes talking and excited. He was very appreciative of memories with family and friends, but he forgot the memories, including his request to Jinta as a child. When he appears before Jinta, she has an older, but still childish nature. He also still wearing the clothes he wears when he died. Though only Jinta can see it, he can interact with the surrounding environment, such as opening doors, eating, cooking, and even play games. He is a descendant of a mixture of Russian and Japanese. He does not hold a grudge against his friends for his death. He has feelings for Jinta, and when he appeared before Jinta, he still keeps the feeling. At the end of the story, in his letter to Jinta, he stated that his eye is like a sense of where he wants to be his wife.
Naruko "Anaru" Anjo (安 城 鸣 子 Anjo Naruko?)

Is one part of the Super Peace Busters. Naruko being cold towards Jinta, but still worried about the state of Jinta. Naruko is described as a person who is easily influenced by his friends, although he himself did not agree to their behavior. He admired Meiko, and strive to resemble Meiko, even though she is very jealous of their relationship with Jinta Meiko. He doubts Meiko's return, but he is still jealous of Jinta was still turned to Meiko.
Atsumu "Yukiatsu" Matsuyuki (松 雪 集 Matsuyuki Atsumu?)

Is one part of the Super Peace Busters. Atsumu condescension and hate Jinta. He agitated whenever Meiko name called, and he was desperate for the death of Meiko. He and Chiriko attended the same high school. Atsumu is someone who is good-looking, athletic, and popular, but still trapped in the memory of Meiko and storing clothing similar to the clothes wear when Meiko Meiko died. He blames himself for the death of Meiko, because he expressed his feelings towards Meiko before his death, and argued that he was supposed to be haunted by Meiko, not Jinta.
Chiriko "Tsuruko" Tsurumi (鹤 见 知 利子 Tsurumi Chiriko?)

Is one part of the Super Peace Busters. Chiriko a silent observer groups, and has a very serious personality. He and Atsumu still be good friends after the Super Peace Busters disbanded, and attended the same high school. He has feelings towards Atsumu, as he pointed out in their humiliation Atsumu by saying that he still can not forget Meiko. He keeps hair tongs that Atsumu Meiko Meiko waste when rejected, even wear them when alone. He may be critical of other people, and rebuke Naruko over his habit to follow others. He admits to Naruko that she likes Atsumu, but he believes, Atsumu will never love him back, because he can not win against Meiko. He often drew sketches when idle, and never draw Atsumu dress shirt similar to Meiko.
Tetsudo "Poppo" Hisakawa (久 川 鉄 道 Hisakawa Tetsudo?)

Is one part of the Super Peace Busters. As a child, he was greatly admired Jinta, often praised. He admitted that he was grateful to his childhood friends who have put it in the Super Peace Busters. Although he had not in school, he is a world traveler who earn money through part-time job and stay at the Super Peace Busters secret base when not abroad. Tetsudo is someone who is worldly and soft. She really wanted the Super Peace Busters back, and immediately believe when Jinta said that Meiko appears before him.
